Initial set up- How to Register as a SEDI User

Before you begin

You should gather the following information:

  • Family name, given names in full
  • Employer name and position (Note: mandatory if you are an Agent or an Issuer Representative)
  • Full address (Note: do not use a P.O. Box Number or other mailing address. You must use a residential address if you are an insider or a business address if you are an Agent or Issuer Representative)
  • Municipality
  • Province, Territory or State
  • Country
  • Postal Code or Zip Code
  • Daytime telephone number
  • Fax number
  • E-mail address (Note: if you would like to receive notification when your user account is activated, have the ability to reset your password online or receive filer bulletins via email, you will need to provide a personal email address. Users should avoid generic email addresses (e.g. "info@abc.ca") as the password reset link would be accessible to multiple parties.)
  • Type of user classification (see below)
  • Confidential question and answer (Note: Enter a question and answer to which only you know the answer in the Confidential question and answer fields. This information will be used to confirm your identity should you need to reset your password online (see Forgot Your Password page) or contact the CSA Service Desk at 1-800-219-5381.)

How to Register as a SEDI User?

Steps to register as a SEDI user follow:

Click Register as a SEDI user in the top right of the screen.

The Register as a SEDI user - Form 55-102F5 screen opens

Enter your information in the fields provided (if you are an insider, provide your principal residential address, otherwise provide the business address where you are employed)

Select the SEDI User Classification (see the type of SEDI users above for more information)

Enter a question and answer to which only you know the answer in the Confidential question and answer fields.  This information will be used to confirm your identity should you contact the CSA Service Desk at 1-800-219-5381.

The Accept terms of use - SEDI User screen opens

Click Accept

The Certify and submit registration information – Form 55-102F5 screen opens.

Ensure information is correct

Click
Certify

Click OK

The Conditional registration completed screen opens

Make note of your user ID and password displayed on the screen

To print this screen click Print on your browser's navigation bar

Scroll down the screen and click the Printer friendly version button. The SEDI User Registration (Form 55-102F5) screen opens. After printing, click the Back button located in the top left-hand side of the SEDI screen. Do not use your browser back arrows.

This printed version must be signed, then faxed (1-866-729-8011) or emailed (sedi@csa-acvm.ca) to the CSA Service Desk, attn: SEDI Operator, for account activation

Note: The SEDI Operator will contact the SEDI user to let them know when they have activated their registration ONLY if a valid email address is provided in the SEDI user’s registration form.

Verifying Status of SEDI User Registration

The SEDI user will be able to tell if their registration is activated after 2 to 24 hours by trying to log in to the system using their user ID and password.  If the status of your account is “Conditional” make sure that you have submitted the required SEDI User Registration Form with the SEDI Operator (see step 5 of the How to Register as a SEDI User topic above).  You may contact the CSA Service Desk at 1-800-219-5381 for assistance with your registration.

Note: The SEDI Operator will contact the SEDI user to let them know when they have activated their registration ONLY if a valid email address is provided in the SEDI user’s registration form.
