Privacy Statement

When you visit www.sedi.ca (the "Web Site"), when you move from page to page, read pages, conduct searches, submit filings or communications, or download content onto your computer, the Web Site may record and collect the following information:

  • the IP address you are connecting from
  • which pages are visited
  • what content is downloaded
  • the IP address and the account ID for SEDI users that logged on, number of successful and unsuccessful attempts, and the transactional activity completed.

Cookies are small data files that are sent to your browser and stored on your computer hard drive when you visit a web site and which are used to track your visit to that web site. On this Web Site, non-persistent cookies may be used only to facilitate functionality during a single site visit. Cookies do not contain personal information and are not permanently stored for future use. For added security, cookies are not used to remember user IDs and passwords when accessing secured pages accessible to SEDI users only.

This information is used by the site administrator to find out how many and what type of visitors visit the Web Site and which sections of the site are visited the most frequently. This helps the site administrator to know what information is most useful and to identify possible improvements to the Web Site to make it easier for different types of visitors to access the information they require. As part of the Web Site operations, it may be necessary for the Alberta Securities Commission ("ASC") to share aggregate statistical information with its suppliers and/or the other Canadian securities regulatory authorities. By using the Web Site, you are deemed to have provided your permission to the collection and use of aggregate statistical information for the purposes set out herein. Unless otherwise indicated in this statement, the Terms of Use - Public or the Terms of Use - SEDI User, if applicable, none of the information collected is associated with you as an individual. The ASC records the statistical information in the aggregate, based on the numbers of visitors or users to the Web Site and/or IP addresses. The ASC retains the content of e-mails that are sent to the ASC, the e-mail address from which the e-mail was sent and the ASC responses in order to handle any follow.

The ASC may modify this Privacy Statement at any time. The ASC will notify you of any such modifications by posting such modifications on the Web Site, and you agree to be bound by such Privacy Statement as is in effect at the time you access and use the Web Site. This Privacy Statement was last updated on the date shown above.
